Choosing Pallbearers

You should speak to anyone that you are considering to be the pallbearer and ask them if they would not mind participating.

Being a pallbearer usually requires carrying the casket, when you are selecting someone for this role make sure that they will be able to carry the weight.  Often, if people can not bear the weight of the casket, they are selected to be an honorary pallbearer.

Honorary Pallbearers

Anyone that can not carry the weight of the casket can be made “honorary pallbearers.”  They walk in the front, side, or behind the coffin.

There is no limit to the number of honorary pallbearers.
